about

The very first time I started playing around with HTML was in a browser game years ago, in which I followed a Youtube video tutorial that showed you how to edit the text to make it look like you were rich. Later on, I would code my own "diary" on my computer in middle school, but I had no idea on how to actually publish it. With coding sites like repl.it and Github, I learned where I could host my own sites and kept one on repl.it for a while. I learned about Neocities after browsing the Internet for more free hosting services and soon I started coding my site again. And again, and again, and again, as I've gone through multiple layouts within the short time it's been up.

The current layout is based off of magazines, as I realized that I wanted to put a lot of text and my own pictures on the site.

(about) cdMiLK

I am a high schooler interested in web design, music, and regional development. I spend what little free time I have during the school year practicing the violin or guitar, reading, and updating this website. Lately, my favorite meal has been salmon sinigang. On long breaks, I play video games or do fiber arts. My favorite video game franchise is Ace Attorney. I also like stationery; A few years ago, I used to run a journaling account on Instagram. I'm trying to use up all the stickers I have now so I can get new ones, which is why you'll see plenty of photos of stickers plastered onto things around the site.

I am constantly thinking about everything, especially the future. You kind of have to as a high schooler, but even if the constant reminders about college weren't present, I'd be worried about it anyways. I prefer to keep those thoughts at the back of my mind by doing other things, like coding. However, most times it is the very thing that is giving me a headache.

on handcoding

I've used multiple blogging platforms in the past such as Dreamwidth and Tumblr, and it is undeniably more time consuming to write a post, format it in HTML, and then upload it to Neocities. So why handcode it? Because I am a masochist find coding satisfying. It takes hours to figure out how to make something look the way you want it to, especially when you've had no formal training or classes relating to coding. I've had to compromise multiple designs and I have pages filled with old layouts and layouts I could never get to work. But the satisfaction that comes with code finally working as I've intended it to is worth the hours. (Now that I think about it, perhaps "finding things satisfying" is also the reason things tend to be harder than they have to...)

birbo's flavor text

A haphazardly crocheted "bird" made out of yarn one of my friends gave me for my birthday a few years ago. His flavor is yarn. One would find that his texture is more interesting. His birthday is on January 1st. Birbo enjoys sitting still and tipping over when he's feeling more adventurous. You can find him on a considerable amount of pages in this website. (Yes, there are many photos of him on my phone. More than I would like, but not enough to make me delete all of them.)

thank you for reading

If you're at the end of this long ramble on a multitude of things, please take a look at my blog, in which I meander through my already disorganized thoughts. Also, that hairclip at the top is from Daiso. It's very cute and I use it every day, but it is a little too small for my hair thickness. They also make it in tortoiseshell, but I chose black because it matches my hair.
